Just as new Google OS Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is starting to whet the appetites of mobile gadget owners, LG in the UK and Europe has started the roll out of current software 2.3 Gingerbread for its range of Optimus smartphones – appearing on 3 mobile models throughout November.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread started to cook up a storm on mobile phones almost a year ago, in December 2010, and LG owners have been waiting to hear when they’d get their fix. LG says apologetically that the company would “like to express its sincere thanks to all of the Optimus Series owners who have been waiting patiently for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade. We are excited by the high level of product interest that LG Optimus Series owners have shown, and we are taking all possible measures to offer a smooth OS upgrade in a timely manner.” LG adds that it will “try and provide better service in the future“.
Those in line for an upgrade from Android 2.2 Froyo will include owners of the LG Optimus 2X – with 2.3 update available from today, LG Optimus 3D will get its taste of Gingerbread on November 21st, and following up will be the LG Optimus Black will receive its upgrade to biscuity goodness on November 28th.
