Nokia fixes brightness and more with updates to Lumia 920, 820 and 620

Nokia likes to listen to its customers, and after receiving feedback regarding its first trio of Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices it has issued software updates to fix complaints.

Updates will land on the Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620 over the coming weeks, aiming to improve performance and fix a couple of known issues with the phones. The main issue Nokia confirms that the update fixes is with the auto brightness.

We’ve heard reports of Nokia’s new Windows Phones adjusting the brightness in quite an over the top way, shooting between dim and super bright with little in between. Nokia says the update fixes this issue on all three phones, so you should now see more subtle changes to your screen brightness as the phone adjusts to the light you use it in.

In addition to screen tweaks Nokia says your Windows Phone should also download stuff faster once the new update is installed. The new software aims to improve performance overall, so you should see webpages loading faster, games downloading sooner and an overall zippiness about your phone.

The update will be the same for the Lumia 920 and 820, and if you want to know if you have the very latest software then it’ll be known as version 1232.5957.1308.00xx.

The Lumia 620 gets its own unique update with other improvements to the camera flash and exposure as well as touchscreen responsiveness, and if you want to check if you have it then it’s version 1030.6407.1308.00xx.

Nokia tells us that the update is going out now, so you should see a notification appear on your phone within the coming days or weeks.
