Samsung has announced that it will be releasing its next flagship Android sporting smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S 2, on the 1st of May and it will be coming to all major networks and retailers.

Last year Samsung released its Galaxy S Android smartphone amid a slew of Android handsets but the Galaxy slowly built a reputation as a very good Android device and gained a very loyal fan base, so when the follow-up device was announced in February we got all excited.

The Galaxy S 2 comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread software, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and runs off a Dual-Core 1.2GHz processor. It also packs an 8-megapixel camera and 1080p HD video playback capability.

Samsung is also slapping its new Game Hub and Music Hub onto the devices to compete with Apple’s iTunes and Microsoft’s Xbox Live/Zune experiences.

The Samsung Galaxy S 2 has got us all excited and we can’t wait to get our hands on the new Samsung Smartphone leader to see what it’s got packing.
