Sony Entertainment boss takes a swing at Nintendo – 3DS is a “babysitting tool”

More handbags swinging in the games industry – with Sony’s US entertainment boss unleashing an unrelenting attack on Nintendo, calling best-selling gaming gadget Nintendo 3DS nothing more than a “babysitting tool”.

Jack Tretton, head of Sony Computer Entertainment America properly threw his control pad out of the pram during the interview, claiming Nintendo’s handheld consoles offer nothing more than a “Game Boy” experience and  nowhere near the solid gaming experience brought by Sony’s own PSP – which is currently outselling Nintendo in some parts of the world.

It’s obvious that Sony Entertainment’s head guy would slate the leading competitor and “big up” his own gaming gadgets, especially with Sony’s Next-Generation Portable (NGP) just over the horizon (and already suggested to suffer delays.)

The tirade from Tretton continues “no self-respecting twenty-something is going to be sitting on an airplane with a 3DS, he’s too old for that.”

Sit down Tretton, you kill-joy!
