At long last Sony has confirmed that it will be bringing the latest Android operating system to is current flagship phone, the Sony Xperia S, in the next couple of weeks, bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to all devices.
Users of the new handset have been awaiting the update since the Xperia S was released, but Sony has been very quiet about the update’s launch schedule. However, now in an official post on one of its support forums Sony has added some clarity.
On the post Sony stated:
“Xperia S is planned to get ICS somewhere around late May/early June. That’s what’s been said and that’s still what we’re sticking to.”
“Any other date (such as June/July) is just speculation.”
“The roll out is, as always, gradual and will not happen overnight for all phones. Some phones might get the update in late May while other[s] will get it in mid-June etc.”
So after months of waiting and delays (the update was originally planned for an April release), users of Sony’s latest and greatest will be able to upgrade to ICS and all enjoy the benefits the phone was built for.

There is currently no news on when the rest of the Sony Xperia range, including the P and U, will be getting the update, but hopefully it wont be long after the Xperia S update lands.
