iPhone 4S appears in Apple inventory – Photo confirms no iPhone 5 next week?

Apple’s iPhone 5 was expected to finally become a reality at the Cupertino, California campus product launch on October 4th, but a leaked snap of the supposed inventory description of what’s actually on it’s way suggests that what we will see will not be the next generation iPhone – but the previously talked about ‘step-up’ model mobile referred to as the iPhone 4S.

The snap comes from 9 to 5 Mac, an Apple-specific tech news and rumour website, and reveals a barcode and item numbering for what the description goes on to tell as ‘iPhone 4S, White 16GB. And following a long string of rumours dating back to around April/May time there could be no clearer confirmation, besides the announcement itself, that this is what we’ll be seeing next week.

An analyst from Jefferies and Co., Peter Misek, originally incited the impending dread that the next time we see an iPhone it would in fact only be an incremental upgrade. He claimed “According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support”

Addressing suggestion that Apple’s push-back of the next iPhone from early-summer to September was to co-incide with the 4G LTE network, Misek says “We believe the likelihood of the iPhone 5 launch in September including LTE [Long-Term Evolution] is now remote”. He adds “According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ [Evolved High-Speed Packet Access] support.”

Regardless of what comes out of Tim Cook’s pocket at the Town Hall next week, we’re expecting some changes to the look of the iPhone. We’ve seen the general shape of the smartphone and the positioning of the camera and connection ports revealed through a case maker website and of course there’s Apple’s investment in glass shaping and cutting tech – suggesting the screen of the new iPhone will be curved.

But if you were worked into an excited frenzy, and it turns out there is no iPhone 5 launched next week – don’t jump just yet. We can still heed the words of ex-Vice President of the United States, Al Gore, who randomly stated recently that there will be more than one Apple iPhone coming in October.. This man knows things.
