The Apple Watch has arguably been the most hyped and longest awaited smart watch wearable yet, and following the recent Apple spring event the device has finally been given the go ahead for release on the 24th of April 2015.

Apple fans at the event were given a showcase of not only some more of the Apple Watch’s features, but also the intricate metal crafting techniques that have gone into making the wearable. Specially made stainless steel, aluminium and gold will be making it onto the device, designed for additional strength and robustness for use on the Apple Watch by metalworking masters.

Meanwhile, pricing details have finally been set in stone for the release, with the basic model sitting at $349 in the US and £299 in the UK. for this price you’ll get the smaller version of the device in an aluminium finish. The Apple Watch comes in two screen sizes, and the larger version in the same finish will set you back a little more at $399 in the US.

But there’s more than just the aluminium version up for grabs. A mid tier stainless steel version comes in at £479 in the UK and $549 in the US. On top of this, the choice of band, which can vary from plastic, leather and steel chain link options, might add a lot to the price. For example, the mid tier stainless steel option with the most expensive band goes for $1079 in the US.

Of course, if you have stupid amounts of money, and absolutely no common sense, you can shell out $10,000 or £8000 for the 18 karat gold version, and on top of that you could even extend your insane spend to an unprecedented $17,000 if you desire the most expensive size and wristband for your Apple Watch.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO was obviously very excited at the announcement. appearing onstage at the recent event following a well-deserved lie-in until 4:30pm, Apples man of the hour promised to fans that each and every Apple Watch was a labor of love from the company. “We crafted each one of them with the care you would expect from Apple,” he said.

Regardless of which version you buy, the hot property that is the Apple Watch is expected to fly off shelves this April 24th. Pre orders start on the 10th, and the global release will occur on the day of the 24th in the UK, US, Australia and China,
